New Project: “Kensuke’s Kingdom”

Raffey has a new project, and something different from what I was used to doing! This time, she will lend her voice to Becky in the animated movie “Kensuke’s Kingdom.”
The film with an unknown release date will be based on the book of the same name written by Michael Morpurgo and will be directed by Neil Boyle and Kirk Hendry from a script written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce.

Kensuke’s Kingdom tells the story of Michael, who is taken by his family on a round-the-world sailing trip.  When a storm strikes he is washed overboard and ends up on a remote island in the Pacific where he struggles to survive on his own. Unable to find food or water, as the boy and his dog curl up to sleep, Michael knows they cannot last long.

But he soon realises there is someone close by, someone who is watching over him and helping him to stay alive. Following a close-run battle between life and death, the mysterious Japanese stranger – Kensuke – reluctantly allows Michael into his world and they begin to form a friendship. But something threatens to destroy the fragile world Kensuke has created on the island, and they must use all their courage, skills and resourcefulness to try to save it. Kensuke’s Kingdom is a thrilling adventure story with a poignant ecological message that will resonate with audiences across the world.

Raffey for Dazed

Raffey recently recorded a new editorial for the February edition of Dazed Digital! She did a beautiful photo session with the photographer Laura Jane Coulson, and she wore the Miu Miu SS19 clothes. Her stylist was Elizabeth Fraser-Bell. The number of the magazine is now available. If you want to acquire it, you can do it here. Next, you can read the interview published by the magazine on its website!

Ever had a sliding-doors moment? Chances are you won’t know if you’ve experienced one of those instances in life where everything could have changed. Or maybe you haven’t had one yet. For 17-year-old Raffey Cassidy, her own came early and distinct, one day when she was tagging along with her older brother to an audition.

“It’s a funny story,” the young Mancunian begins, sitting in an east London cafe late on a Sunday afternoon. “I actually got into acting because my brother, Mossie, had an audition after school. I was with him and they said, ‘We need another girl. Would you like to come in and try?’ So I went in and had a go. Literally, the audition was (me) coughing: I coughed and died and that was me. I ended up getting the part.”

In 2019, somewhere between acclaim and anonymity, Raffey Cassidy moves freely – but for how much longer? Just seven years old at the time of her television debut, the actress has now been appearing on screen for longer than she hasn’t, starring in films alongside George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell and Natalie Portman. In person, the teenager is the antithesis of her recent roles. Cassidy plays a troubled girl who grows up too fast in this year’s Vox Lux and a girl who grows to become trouble in 2017’s The Killing of a Sacred Deer, taken advantage of by a sleazy rock star in the former and muttering “Fuck you” to her mother from her hospital bed in the latter. The real Raffey is curious and considered, giving you the distinct feeling that she has spent her childhood warming up for greatness. Her smart screen choices have paid off – these are performances that show all the signs of imminent arrival. Continue reading Raffey for Dazed
